Department of Quality Assurance

As per guidelines of the Quality Assurance and Accreditation Council of the UGC, SIBA Campus established the department of IQA in January 2021.

Vision

To be the premier institution in the hill capital, renowned for excellence in academic quality assurance and dedicated to producing highly skilled and competent graduates who meet global standards.


Mission

To commit to developing, monitoring, and following up on the implementation of teaching and learning plans in alignment with national and international quality assurance standards for higher education.

To offer quality programs by leveraging the recognized strengths and expertise of the institution’s services.

To provide a holistic and outcome-based education through both formal curricula and co-curricular activities.

To organize and participate in seminars, workshops, and training sessions related to quality assurance activities within and outside the institute.

Objectives of Establishing an Internal Quality Assurance Department

  • To ensure continuous improvement in all academic operations aligned with the mission and vision of SIBA in order to produce human capital for the 21st century.
  • To monitor and periodically review academic programs to ensure the achievement of both learning and program outcomes.
  • To provide staff development programs focused on quality assurance in instructional processes and learning assessment, with an emphasis on shifting from a teaching-centered culture to a learning-centered culture through authentic and activity-based learning.
  • To monitor the outcomes of academic programs and ensure continuous quality improvement across all programs.
  • To oversee and follow up on the academic advising process within all academic departments.

 

Functions and Responsibilities of the department of AQA

  • Ensuring that the Institute’s quality assurance procedures are designed to align with UGC standards and guidelines.
  • Reviewing, maintaining, and improving academic standards, quality of teaching and learning, research, and community services in all academic programs.
  • Evaluating the achievement of course/program learning outcomes through student feedback, peer evaluation, and course evaluation.
  • Develop a semester work plan and implement it with the approval of the Board of Studies (BOS).
  • Initiating and supporting preparation of the self-evaluation report (SER) for Institutional Reviews
  • Reviewing the proposed curricula for new degree programs before sending them to the Ministry of Education for approval.
  • Preparing an annual report of the AQA department and sending it to the Ministry of Higher Education.
  • Organizing awareness programs on QA activities among all staff members in order to ensure that the quality standards are maintained.
  • Ensure that the necessary academic regulations/bylaws are in place, and if not, make recommendations for remedial actions.
  • Conducting staff development programs at the beginning of each semester
  • Preparing guidelines for assessment procedures to ensure the successful achievement of course learning outcomes.
  • Organizing and conducting student professional development programs.
  • Monitoring student progress to assist them in achieving higher academic standards. 
  • Coordinating all QA-related activities within the institute.
