The Department of Pali and Buddhist Studies was the first academic department to be established in SIBA Campus in 2009. It is the central academic unit committed to providing the academic leadership in Pali and Buddhist Studies. Our goal is to produce outstanding Buddhist leaders and multi-talented graduates who are profoundly knowledgeable in Buddhism and modern comparative religion, well-versed in Pali Language and possess effective communication skills in English and sound technical skills in IT. Academic programs offered are designed to provide the undergraduates with an authentic learning environment where undergraduates explore, discuss, and meaningfully construct concepts and relationships in contexts that involve real-world problems and projects that are relevant to the learner. Emeritus Prof. P. D. Premasiri provides the academic leadership to the program.
